A CCTV footage of a man throwing a live puppy into a pot of boiling oil in Mexico has been released, causing outrage.
A case of dog abuse that shocked many people. More shockingly, the man who abused the dog was a Mexican police officer.
The Mexico City Department of Public Safety said the man accused of throwing a dog to death in a pot of hot oil is a working police officer.
The officer's name is Sergio, and he was reportedly dismissed shortly after an arrest warrant was issued.
The man was arrested the previous day while staying at a relative's house in Mexico City's Borough of Coyoacan.

Residents flocked to the scene of the arrest and took retribution, such as hitting the back of the head of the man who committed animal abuse.

During the police investigation, he was reported to have said to the effect that he was "drunken on the day of the incident".
Sergio, who had previously had an argument with the butcher, picked up a puppy from the side of the road and threw it into the pot.
It is said that at the time, the pot was boiling oil for making chicharon (fried pork skin).

The puppy, thrown into the pot, struggled violently and eventually died. Sergio got into his vehicle and quietly disappeared from the scene.
